A video excerpt of David Bernbaum's unique juggling choreography, in support of our first ever collaboration:

WHITE MONKEY TRAVELS!

From the press kit in progress:

"WHITE MONKEY TRAVELS is the story of a disastrously successful two-man circus tour in Taiwan, retold with a fluid mix of monologue, physical comedy, and original juggling choreography. Based on circus artist and Berkeley native David Bernbaum's 2006 tour of China, and adapted to the stage by Oakland-based playwright Ignacio Zulueta, WHITE MONKEY TRAVELS is an original multidisciplinary work of theatre brings the modern theatre and the new circus together as partners in business and co-creators of art.

The play originated in 2006, when Ignacio began compiling and editing David’s real-time emails from his tour in Taiwan. The result was a travel memoir, produced as a limited edition chapbook with hand-sewn binding.

In 2007 WHITE MONKEY TRAVELS was adapted as a traditional stage play, with two characters, dialogue, rudimentary choreography, and occasional fits of trilingualism. This draft was performed at Ignacio’s self-produced stage reading series, Gyres, by Berkeley-based actor David Mendelsohn and Norway-based circus artist Cory Tabino.

The 2008 draft-in-progress of WHITE MONKEY TRAVELS will feature David Bernbaum in the title role, performing his own text and choreography for the first time."
