Found It! finds it's voice

Found It! debuted at Calaveras Repertory theatre this Saturday along with four other plays in the New Year's Playwrights Project, supported by the South Bay's Contemporary Asian Theatre Scene (CATS) and Movimiento de Arte y Cultura Latino (MACLA).

This premiere performance was directed by John Ribovich and featured Lillian Bognovich as Helena and Nick Maccarone as Innocencio. This short, intimate portrait of arrested development and secret recipes focused on the absurdist humor beneath the surface of a day in a family's life.

Afterwards, a talkback was held in which the director, the playwrights, and the audience discussed both the final products and the process of a breakneck 40 day period of composition and preparation. In the case of Found It, cuts were made to bring the 30 page play down to a streamlined 25-30 minutes.

Trust me, it's not as politically correct as it sounds.

Confessions and hallucinations: these are the fabric from which the holidays are spun in this short ode to the enduring landmark of my mother's garage.
