Arte di Gesso Award Exhibit / New Plays in North Beach Reading Series

Live Worms Gallery
1345 Grant Street,

San Franciso, CA

The Award Exhibit for the Arte di Gesso chalk muralists featured at the 54th Annual North Beach Festival runs from October 27, 2008 to November 8, 2008.

Sponsored by the North Beach Chamber of Commerce and produced by Arte Del Leone, the two week show is hosted at Kevin Brown’s Live Worms Gallery at 1345 Grant Street. Live Worms is now open from 11am to 9pm daily, selling prints, drawings, paintings, and “vegan taxidermy” (sculpted paper birds, for the squeamish - cash or check only).

Known for their ephemeral pastel chalk paintings, handmade on neighborhood sidewalks and parking spaces, the chalk artists’ more permanent works are showcased in the mediums of sculpture, painting, drawing, printmaking, costumes, and theatre.

A reception for the artists will be held on Thursday, October 30th, from 6pm to 10pm, with live music on the evenings of Oct. 30th and November 7th courtesy of the two-man traveling acoustic junk band frontJunk.

On November 1st, 2nd, 5th, 6th, 7th , and 8th Live Worms Gallery will host the Fourth Annual New Plays in North Beach Series, premiering original work by contemporary local playwrights Samantha Chanse, Adam Chanzit, Christopher Chen, and Ignacio Zulueta.

All readings start at 8pm, with music and mingling to follow.

Coming next year: BOA VIII

Look forward to a production and publication at the Eureka in Spring of 2009, thanks to the Three Wise Monkeys Theatre Company and their eighth annual Bay Area One Acts Festival.

This annual event showcases world premieres and plays with a limited production history.

All plays feature San Francisco Bay-Area writers, and are subsequently published in the Bay One Acts Festival Anthology.
