Mismatched bulb holder and wiring

On left is grey bulb holder, detached from main light assembly. The 2 socketed prongs don’t match the white socket.

On right is white wiring leads, 3 pronged, from auto body.

The part number for the correct B5 series bulb holder is 3B0 953 123 A. Maybe the US bulb holder differs from the european bulb holder?
